Following the 1st Supplier Workshop in March 2008, the 2nd supplier workshop of the Tchibo-GTZ Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) Project (Shanghai region) was conducted in Hangzhou on 23 and 24 May. The PPP Project "Worldwide Enhancement of Social Quality (WE)" is being implemented in three Asian countries, in Bangladesh, China and Thailand. It is dedicated to the qualification of local training institutions and pilot suppliers regarding social standards and in-house dialogue. The goal is to further qualify and establish local training providers in the project countries and to multiply an innovative training tool to further training organisations and companies. 

The 2-day workshop was jointly organised by Tchibo and GTZ and moderated by four local trainers under the coaching of one international trainer. In total, 41 participants from 10 selected suppliers of Tchibo attended the workshop, including top management, middle-management and ground-floor workers.

The 2nd supplier workshop focused on communication and negotiation skills. Group work and active discussion is a main pillar of the training concept. Suppliers were encouraged and guided to draw up their own Action Plans and agree on measures to improve social standards. 

In the following month, the local trainer team will carry out factory visits to the group of pilot suppliers to follow-up on the progress made.
