On 9 July 2008, an EoCM Training and Consultancy Programme was launched in Changxing County, Huzhou City. The Programme has been organised by Huzhou Shengda Information and Consultancy Co., Ltd (Shengda). In total, 18 representatives from five industrial companies in the battery making and refractory matter manufacturing sector participated in the launching of the EoCM Programme. Mr. Li Shigen, General Manager of Shengda, a certified EoCM Local Trainer Level One, is the key trainer and four staff of Shengda, who are certified EoCM Local Consultants, will act as co-trainers under his coaching.

Representatives from the Huzhou Economic Commission and the Changxing Environmental Protection Bureau gave opening remarks, highlighting the importance of EoCM in terms of energy saving and emission reduction. Ms. Yu Xianrong, EECZ Programme Officer, also emphasised the significance of localising EoCM and operating EoCM under market conditions.

The EoCM Programme includes three sessions of workshops, company visits and network meetings and is expected to conclude by the end of 2008.
