From 06 to 18 September 2008, 12 officials from provincial and local environmental protection bureaus from Zhejiang participated in an EECZ-organised combined training programme and study tour to Germany on 'Hazardous Waste Management'.

During the tour, various site visits were conducted to state/regional waste management authorities, waste transport, treatment and disposal facilities, landfills etc. The visits offered insights into a variety of best practices associated with a well-regulated hazardous waste management system, and a greater understanding of hazardous waste management in Germany was achieved. Each site visit was followed by a series of interactive Q&A sessions.

The training also provided those involved in hazardous waste management with the opportunity to exchange professional knowledge and understanding with German experts, and was designed to help the delegation members identify areas for improvement in the planning and development of hazardous waste treatment and disposal facilities in Zhejiang.

To date, EECZ has organised six hazardous waste management combined trainings/tours in Germany.
